Meet Dr. José Antonio Páramo, Chief Marketing Officer at Hemostatics
Dr. José Antonio Páramo obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from the University of Salamanca, Spain, in 1978, followed by a PhD in Medicine. He further expanded his expertise through postdoctoral training at the University of Leuven in Belgium (1983-1984) and at the Centre for Biological Standards and Control in London (1989).
Since 1982, Dr. Páramo has served as a consultant in Hematology at Clinica Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, where he currently leads the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Unit and directs the Vascular Medicine Area. In addition, he has been recognized as a Professor of Hematology by the School of Medicine at Universidad de Navarra since 2009. From 2004 to 2014, he also directed the Atherosclerosis Laboratory in the Cardiovascular Sciences Department at Cima. Furthermore, Dr. Páramo served as President of the Spanish Society of Hemostasis and Thrombosis (SETH) between 2016 and 2020.
Clinically, Dr. Páramo specializes in the care of patients with hemorrhagic and thrombotic disorders, treating both hospitalized individuals and outpatients. His primary research interests include atherosclerosis, inflammatory and prothrombotic biomarkers, metalloproteinases, and fibrinolysis. He is also a principal investigator within the CIBERCV, the cardiovascular diseases network of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III in Spain.
