Meet Adriana Temporão, Scientific & Clinical Project Manager at Hemostatics
Adriana Temporão began her scientific journey by obtaining a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Beira Interior. This interdisciplinary program equipped her with a strong foundation across diverse fields, including Biomedicine, Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering. Adriana continued her academic growth by pursuing a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, specializing in Molecular Biology in Tropical and International Health—a program collaboratively offered by the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical of Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the Biophysics Unit at Universidad del País Basco.
Following her master’s, Adriana devoted a year and a half to a clean energy project, after which she took a pivotal step in her scientific career by undertaking a PhD. Her doctoral research, conducted at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, focused on Microbiology and Parasitology, immersing her in extensive practical research involving the parasites responsible for malaria and sleeping sickness. Adriana’s outstanding work during this period was recognized with the prestigious AAAS/Science Program for Excellence in Science award.
After completing her PhD, Adriana transitioned seamlessly into clinical research, contributing notably to clinical trials aimed at developing a tuberculosis vaccine. She is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, which enhances her effectiveness and adaptability in international scientific environments.
